It’s springtime and we all want to instantly look fresh faced and beautiful, however, our skin could definitely do with a bit of help after the long winter months. And while a good diet and a solid morning and night-time routine will do a great deal for your face, you can always go that extra mile and do a DIY face mask that will make your skin glow this spring. Here’s a couple of easy DIY face masks that you can whip up in a matter of minutes that will instantly perk up your complexion.
1. Soothing Oatmeal Mask
This DIY face mask is great for soothing inflamed skin. So whether you’ve got an acne breakout or perhaps your eczema is flaring up – this mask will help you out. All you need is 1/3 cup of instant oatmeal, 1/2 cup hot water, a tablespoon of honey and some plain, unsweetened yogurt. Let the instant oatmeal cook in the hot water until it’s done, then mix in the rest of ingredients and blend until it’s smooth. Apply it all over your face and leave it for about 10 minutes. After that, wash off and pat your face dry.
2. Cleansing Clay Mask
This DIY face mask is great if you’re looking to cleanse your pores and just get that squeaky clean feel to your face. Take 2 tablespoons of clay (you can buy this at a drugstore), 1 tablespoon of freshly squeezed grape juice and a teaspoon of extra virgin olive oil. Mix together and add some distilled water to thin it out a bit. Apply to your face and leave on for about 15 minutes. Once you wash it off you’ll feel much cleaner and your face will look much brighter.
3. Calming Mask That Helps With Rosacea
If you struggle with Rosacea you probably already know about this face mask. But just in case you don’t, here’s a recipe for a quick relief remedy. Take 1,5 tablespoons of dry instant oatmeal, 2 tablespoons of plain unsweetened yogurt, 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar and 1 teaspoon of honey. Blend together and then add a couple of tablespoons of hot strong-brewed tea until the consistency begins to resemble a smooth face mask. Apply gently to your face and leave for 10-15 minute. Wash off with warm or cold water.
4. Citrusy Face Mask That Will Make You Glow
This face mask is extremely easy to make. You just mix together 2 tablespoons of honey with 2 tablespoons of freshly squeezed orange juice. Leave in on for about 15 minutes and wash off with cold water. After that, take a glass of distilled water and squeeze half a lemon into it. Rinse your face with this lemony water and don’t wash it off. This will keep your face looking fresh and glowing for hours.
5. Hydrating Avocado and Honey Mask
If you have dry, flaky skin – this face mask will be a life changer for you. All you need is a very a half of a very ripe avocado, 2 tablespoons of honey and like a teaspoon of coconut oil. Blend together until smooth and apply to your face for about 10 minutes. Avocado and coconut oil will help hydrate your skin and the honey will take care of the cracks and raw spots on your skin. You can do this face mask in the morning, while you having avocado toast for breakfast, and then just go wash it off in the shower.
6. Anti-Wrinkle Face Mask
If you want to lessen the appearance of wrinkles, or perhaps just prevent them – this mask is great. All you need is juice of half a grapefruit, a couple of tablespoons of oat flour and some plain yoghurt. Mix together until smooth and apply to your face for 15 minutes. Wash off with lukewarm water and you’re done.
7. Brightening Lemon and Strawberry Mask
This mask is great for people with oily and problem skin. The strawberry and lemon will help you get rid of extra oils and dead skin cells. Just mash together a fourth of a cup of strawberries, 2 tablespoons of lemon juice a tablespoon of yogurt and a tablespoon of honey and you’re done. It’s important to mash all this together with fork because you want this to be a bit chunky. If you blend it, it’ll just become a smoothie. However, you can totally make another batch and just have it as a smoothie if you wish.
8. DIY Lifting Face Mask
Did you know you could make that fancy face mask with a lifting effect at home? Well now you know. You just need 1 tablespoon of clay, 2 tablespoons of honey and 2 tablespoons of freshly squeezed lemon juice. Mix this together until it forms a paste and apply to your face for 15 minutes. Wash off with lukewarm water and enjoy the lifting effect it has on your face. It’s a great mask to do before an outing or special event, or when you just want to look your best.
