Well, girls. Making your hair stunning is a tough topic, right? It’s not a secret for anyone that gorgeous hair attracts attention, makes us look more beautiful and shows that we are healthy. I honestly envy girls with beautiful thick hair, but I understand that it takes a lot of time, a strong will and constant efforts. As spring approaches all my girlfriends are facing the same problems with their hair. So, we’ve decided to do some research on what exactly might help solve the hair issues and make us, girls, feel more confident with gorgeous healthy hair.
1. Choose perfect shampoo
Shampoo – is, first and foremost, just detergent, it does not make the hair soft and silky (in spite of all the hyped advertisement). Its active ingredients can protect hair from the harmful effects of chlorinated water, but basically the main purpose of shampoo is to wash out the dirt and grease accumulated since the last time you wash it.
When choosing a shampoo consider your scalp type. It is also desirable that it doesn’t contain any parabens and fragrance agents. A good shampoo produces little foam and has a transparent liquid consistency; it is less harmful to the hair.
It is better to wash your hair at least two, or even three times. The first time you wash off the hair surface all the dirt and dust, the second time – the grease that oil glands have produced. The third washing should depend on how much oil your scalp produces and goes into your hair. More oil, do a third wash. Make foam on your hands and then distribute it through the full length of your hair. Next, massage your head with fingers (not nails) for 3-5 minutes to improve blood circulation.
2. Hair balm and conditioner
Balm and conditioner make hair smooth and eliminate static electricity. Thanks to them, the hair is easier to comb and to style. Useful components of these aids repair minor damage, and create a protective barrier against environmental influences. They also give hair shine and silkiness.
Studies have shown that a balm contains fats and oils in a higher concentration than a conditioner. That is why the balm is more suitable for dry, damaged hair, but conditioner – for oily. Unlike shampoo, these agents should be selected not only according to the scalp type, but also to the problems associated with the hair.
Balm or conditioner should not be applied to the scalp, it will cover it with oily membrane and break the power of hair, as a result, it becomes brittle and dull. So, apply them with massaging movements along the entire length, 5-7 cm from the roots of the hair, then you need to leave it on for 15! minutes (not 3-4 as they say on the package), and then rinse thoroughly.
3. Cosmetic masks
The concentration of nutrients in the mask is twice or even three times bigger than in the balm. It should be applied once a week to nourish and moisturize the hair well. A mask should be applied to clean hair, lightly towel-dried. Even if it says “apply for 3 minutes”, you still need to leave it on for 15 minutes. Put on your head a shower towel and tie the hair with it, Put your hair up in a shower cap or wrap it in a towel tying the hair in the towel securely. The components penetrate more actively in the warm environment.
4. Heat protection
Stylers, irons, hair dryers – terrible weapons that seem to have been specially made to fight the beauty and health of hair. They suck all the moisture out of the hair, leaving it to dry and wither. However, we cannot give up styling products.
Here comes our rescuer – heat protection spray. It contains active substances which helps retain moisture inside the hair. They protect your hair from dryness and brittleness. Apply the heat protection hair spray along the entire length of your precious hair every time before.
5. Choose proper hair brushes
Frankly speaking, metal brushes tear hair, so for your hair’s sake, get rid of them. Stylists prefer plastic and wooden brushes. The brushes should be with rounded teeth. A wooden comb is better because it has an antistatic effect, but plastic ones are cheaper. Do not torture your hair with brushing if your hair is tangled, better use your fingers. It is also important to remeber that it is not recomended to comb wet hair; wait till it gets drier not to damage it. By the way if you are facing the problem with tangled hair there is a bit of pure genius on the market that might help you. It’s called tangle teezer, it’s the brush that’s proven to be the best one to not tear your hair.
Note that for the improvement of blood and nutrition, hair should be brushed at least 4 times a day. And it should be done thoroughly for 3-5 minutes.
6. Avoid stresses
In most cases, the cause of hair loss and other health problems is frequent stress and fatigue. Try to always be in a good mood. Keep track of your sleep. You should sleep at least 7 hours a day, simply because the hair grows best during deep sleep. Walk more and enjoy fresh air. All these factors contribute to the health of not only your hair, but also the whole body.
7. Wash your hair no more than 3 times a week
Even if you have oily hair, try to wash it no more than three times a week. You should give up daily washing, otherwise the hair will become even drier and weaker. If you go to the gym, and you often get dirty hair, use a dry shampoo. This is a real technology treasure for styling also: besides the fact that dry shampoo cleanses the hair instantly, it even adds volume to hair and fixes the set.
8. Visit your hair stylist regularly
To maintain hair health, the tips should be trimmed every three months: a 1 inch cut will help accelerate the growth of healthy hair, and it also makes the hair to immediately look neater. Try not to change your hair dresser. Believe it or not, hair gets used to the stylists and behaves badly if you cheat on your master.
9. Give hair some rest
From dyeing, perming, hair dryers and even simply too tight hairstyles: frequent ponytails or buns or braids can weaken hair follicles and deteriorates blood circulation in the scalp, and, as a result, – hair can be damaged more severely. And remember that hair feels the best when it gets dry naturally.
10. Double protection during winter and summer
Hair becomes vulnerable during winter and summer. It can be easily damaged by frost and the sun. It only fades in the sun, but also becomes drier; its structure spoils. Especially dyed hair can be adversely affected, so make sure that the hair care products you use have a strong SPF rating, or additionally use heat protection spray. Some scientists even believe that excess exposure to UV rays causes premature graying. So, wear hats in winter, use sprays in summer and hide in the shadows.
11. Essential oils
Absolutely all kinds of essential oils positively effect the health of your hair. You can add some drops of oils to shampoo, balm or conditioner.
