If you think you’re too cool for video games, and you believe that videogames are just for nerds – think again. Firstly – look outside, it’s 2016, it’s the age of nerds, nerds are in. Secondly, video games don’t have to be all gory and bloody and all about shooting. Not that there’s anything wrong with enjoying a shooter. But if that’s not your cup of tea, don’t despair, there’s other games, that are hella fun, yet you don’t have to deal with guns and bloody guts flying everywhere. That also doesn’t mean that if you don’t like shooters, the only other option is Barbie games. There’s a lot more to the gaming world. Here’s a list of videogames that both you and your boyfriend might enjoy.
1. Portal
There’s 2 Portal games out at the moment. Portal and Portal 2. Both are really interesting and engaging. You and your partner play as these 2 adorable robots called Blue and Orange. You have to work together and help each other out to pass all the levels and win the game. There’s no blood, no gore, and almost no shooting. Instead of using guns you just shoot and create portals that help you get through the level. It’s extremely fun, especially since throughout the game you’re playing with/against this artificial intelligence that is the most sarcastic thing ever. It’s hilarious.
2. Lego Star Wars
This game is essentially a shooter but a very adorable one. Everything is made of Lego, so it’s not scary at all. You play as your favourite Star Wars characters, which is always fun for Star Wars fans. Who wouldn’t want to be Han Solo or Princess Leia, right? The game loosely follows the scenarios of the Star Wars movie franchise, so beware of the spoilers if you haven’t watched the movies.
3. Lego Harry Potter
This is a great game for Potterheads. It’s all movies in one game. In fact, some might even argue that the game is more detailed than the movies. You get to choose a character, so you’re not stuck playing just as Harry. You can be Ron or Hermione too. You can even choose to play as Hagrid or Dobbie, if you wish. It’s a great way to submerge yourself into the Harry Potter world now that all the movies are out and you don’t really have any more to look forward too.
4. Indiana Jones
follows the plot of the Indiana Jones movies. It’s a fun adventure game that’s very engaging. You can easily spend hours playing it and not even notice the time pass.
5. Trine 2
This is a great game if you like teamwork. You have to work together, otherwise it’s impossible to pass the game. You can play as a wizard or an elf, or a mighty warrior. Whichever character you choose, one thing is guaranteed – they all look adorable.
6. Magicka 2
If you like magic, this is the game for you. You play as little wizards and you have to make your own spells based on elements like earth, fire, water, ice, lightning, life, death, etc. Each combination has its own advantages and disadvantages against different types of enemies. It’s fun, it’s very quick, and it’s easy to learn.
7. Rayman Adventures
This colorful and cute game will easily become a favorite of yours. The game has a 2D feel to it, like old school Mario. You can’t die in this game either, you just become a bubble and in order to continue playing, your partner has to pop the bubble to release you. Even the enemies are cute in this game.
8. Wii Sports
Wii Sports is a great option for those who like physical games. If you want to enjoy a fun game and get a decent workout at the same time – Wii Sports is perfect for you. There’s many classic sports to choose from and it sure beats just sitting on your bum all day. It gets very competitive too, so if you’re a competitive person, you’ll love it.
9. Mario Kart
Mario Kart is a classic racing game. You’ll hate each other after playing it, but it’s a classic because it’s simple, yet extremely fun. The best thing about it? You can play as Princess Peach. She’s definitely the best character. Every time you play as someone else, and the computer gets to play as Princess Peach, you can be sure Princess Peach will win.
10. Call of Duty
So ok, this one is a classic shooter, but maybe that’s exactly what you need in your life. A good shooter to blow off steam. Sometimes you have to shoot each other out of a machine gun to decide who has to wash the dishes, am I right, ladies?
