Characters Jo and Laurie have an interesting twist.

In this film adaptation, Gerwig has added interesting parallels between Jo and Laurie. They were always an interesting reverse reflection of each other, with Jo being a girl with a common boy name, and the same for Laurie with a typical girl’s name. But Gerwig has also included subtle clothing swaps between the characters in this film.
