To play Navy SEAL Chris Kyle in American Sniper, Bradley Cooper had to gain over 40lbs of body weight. How is it possible without damaging your health if you have not that much time? The actor has chosen to do it naturally, without any steroids and hormones or junk food.
Learn more about Bradley Cooper’s American Sniper healthy bulk-up strategy. To gain the required weight, the 40 years old actor had to eat a massive 8000 calories of food every day. That’s 4 recommended daily calorie intakes for an average man. He was not only forced to eat such a huge amount of food, but also do exercises for up to 4 hours a day to gain muscle! Sounds impossible, right?
But not for Bradley! He had his personal trainer, who was always with him. The actor used his own special system that helped him to achieve unbelievable results. He was working out a few hours a day for several months before the filming started.
8000 calories per day sounds impressive… and disturbing. What does it look like? Most people start pretending tons of junk food, high-fat foods and desserts. It is surely much easier and faster to gain weight eating these, but is it healthy enough? Bradley’s daily intake plan looked more like healthy diet, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert and 2 snacks per day that contain healthy ingredients.
Let’s start with breakfast. This one offers almost 2000 calories. Granola is an energy boosting ingredient that contains 259 calories per 100 g. Take a cup of granola and add full fat milk and it will give you about 700 calories. Great energy booster!
Make a smoothie adding 1 cup full fat coconut milk, about 1 tablespoon coconut oil, 1 tablespoon chia seeds, 1 medium avocado, 1 scoop protein. You’ll get almost 1300 calories per serving.
So the total calorie intake of Meal One will contain over 2000 calories.
It is important not to forget about morning snacks. Get 925 calories eating 5 ounces of walnuts every day. 1 ounce of walnuts contains 185 calories. This is a perfect package of protein, fiber, healthy fats, plant sterols, antioxidants, vitamins and minerals.
Lunch. Laksa is a popular spicy noodle soup in Malaysia. It is extremely healthy and delicious as well. It contains chicken, shrimp – always great sources of protein, rice noodles, spices, coconut cream and different vegetables. Believe it or not, from one and a half portions you can get about 2200 calories!
Afternoon snack. Super nutritious high-calorie and delicious afternoon treat. Create a yogurt bowl! This will consist of: 1 cup full-fat Greek yogurt, a cup of strawberries, 1/2 cup almonds, 1 tablespoon ground flaxseed, and 1 tsp honey. You’ll get 760 calories from Meal Four!
Dinner. While it’s important not to overeat in the evening, the dinner should still be nutritious and high-calorie. Here’s is one of the dinner options with a required number of calories.
One burger with all the fixings: vegetables, cheddar cheese, sauce with fries (don’t forget ketchup with that), 3/4 cup roasted green beans, dinner bread with butter and 2 glasses of wine will give you about 1800 calories.
Dessert will be the best part of the day! Bradley ate a classic brownie with a scoop (about 1/2 cup) of premium vanilla ice cream that contain under 500 calories. Yummy!
Now you know that eating 8000 calories per day isn’t that hard. You can do it in a healthy way without doing harm to your health.
