Women are magnificent creatures. We can be physically weaker than men. We need protection and comfort. We are afraid of mice, spiders and heights. We don’t like to leave our comfort zones, and we cry over drama movies.
But don’t buy into those stereotypes. Do not mess with an angry woman. Don’t stand in her way, because you don’t know what she’s capable of. Behind each pretty face there could be a dan-gerous, harsh and merciless iron lady. The following list of the most cruel women in history proves that a women can be…pure evil.

1. The Blood Countess

Elizabeth Bathory, also known as the blood countess, is one of the most notorious killers in Hungary. She was known to abduct and kill peasant girls. But that’s not the worst part. The countess believed that drinking human blood would keep her young and healthy, she would often bite the flash of her victims. Her husband is believed to have taken part in Bathory’s cruelties, but he was definitely not an initiator. After his death she became even worse. Her torture technique was really ‘sophisticated’, including methods like putting pins and needles under the fingernails and covering bodies of victims with honey so that they would be attacked by bees. This is why she is known as the most prolific female serial killer in history.

2. Bloody Mary

Though Bloody Mary is usually associated with some legendary ghost, it is actually the nickname of one of the greatest queens of England Queen Mary I (Tudor). She is famous for executing protestants. Her favorite execution method was burning. History says that the number of her victims is as many as 287 Protestants. Not that many for the Dark Ages, and compared to 57,000 people killed during King Henry VIII’s reign. Henry VIII however has never been called ‘bloody’. Weird, isn’t it?

3. The Wicked Queen Of Spain

Isabella I of Castile, called the Servant of God by the Catholic Church, obviously had another side to her character. Why is she called wicked? She started the greatest war against Muslims called the Reconquista and established inquisition. As a result, 100 thousand Moors were killed. Jews were persecuted and expelled from Spain. Actually she was the first ruler who successfully institutionalized genocide.

4. The Beast of Belsen

Irma Grese, known as the beast of Belsen or the hyena of Auschwitz, was the 2nd highest ranking guard at the Nazi concentration camps. Her means of torture included starving, letting the savage dogs loose on the prisoners, sexual and mental bullying, beating women to death. When Belsen was liberated by British forces Irma was charged at the Belsen Trial and called the ‘most sinister and hated figure’ of the camps. The witness claimed “Irma Grese was probably the worst human being I have ever encountered”. The most horrible thing in this story is probably the fact that Irma was only in her early 20es when she committed all these crimes. She was executed at the age of 22.

5. The Witch of Buchenwald

Another female Nazi, Ilse Koch, is famous for collecting souvenirs — tattoos taken from prisoners she killed. Though the skin was said to be taken for a prison doctor, who investigated tattooing and criminality, there are witnesses who claim they saw a lamp made of human skin with a human bone as a base. She was accused of crimes against humanity and sentenced to life imprisonment. Ilse committed suicide in prison at the age of 60.

6. The Monster

You’ve probably seen or heard the movie “Monster”, about a prostitute serial killer played by Charlize Theron. Aileen Wuornos was accused of killing seven men and was executed. The men were found near a highway, shot. Wuornos claimed it was self-defence and that those men wanted to rape her. That got her some sympathy but it didn’t change the verdict. Compared to other women on the list, she is responsible for not that many deaths. However, we are speaking about present days. Aileen Wuornos was executed in 2002 and she is said to be the first woman to fit the FBI profile of a serial killer. Her last words were “I’d just like to say I’m sailing with the rock, and I’ll be back like Independence Day, with Jesus June 6. Like the movie, big mother ship and all, I’ll be back.”
