James Corden’s The Late Late Show karaoke segments have been growing in popularity ever since the first episode came out. What makes them so addictive? Well, probably the fact that we all like to sing along to our favorite songs while driving around town, and what better way to do this than having your favorite singer performing live alongside you? James Corden has found an ideal recipe for success, but even his brilliant episodes sometimes aren’t as fun and engaging as they could have been. Cool singers don’t necessarily know how to have fun during the show, and vice versa – some non-singers know a lot more about the art of having good time. Here are the 5 best and 5 worst moments of James Corden’s Carpool Karaoke. Enjoy!
Worst: One Direction
We like 1D just as much as the next person, but this episode was really far from perfect. Too many people cramped together in one car and too much emphasis on fan service and singing. Where’s all the fun, guys?
Best: Selena Gomez
Who would have thought that an episode of Carpool Karaoke could include an actual rollercoaster? That, and a great deal of charm radiating from the lovely Selena Gomez who has a killer sense of humor, if you want our opinion. Definitely worth a couple of re-watches!
Worst: Justin Bieber (post-Grammys)
It’s not that it’s the worst Carpool Karaoke episode on Earth, but it definitely is a short one, with James doing most of the work during the episode. That being said, this episode has some pretty hilarious interactions between James and Justin, so you’d better check it out at least once.
We couldn’t even imagine just how many vogue moves one could do while sitting in a car. Madonna is a real pro! Watch as she puts her feet on the ceiling, all while singing some of her best hits, which are many. She’s also a great fashion critic, and James Corden didn’t escape her harsh verdict on him!
Worst: Lady Gaga
Lady Gaga’s episode was a bit of a bummer as she mostly stuck to her own songs and did very little covers, which are always funny to hear. Although, she does take a turn behind the wheel, and her ‘Benedict Cumberbatch’ vocal warm-up is something that makes the episode worthwhile.
Best: Bruno Mars
Changing clothes is an essential part of Carpool Karaoke episodes, and this one doesn’t disappoint at all. Bruno Mars and Corden try on a number of hilarious hats, sing along to some R&B hits, and discuss Bruno’s past, in which he used to do a number of Elvis Presley impersonations. This is just too precious!
Worst: Chris Martin
It wouldn’t be right to say anything bad about Coldplay, but this episode isn’t among the finest on the show. We would go so far as to say that the episode was slightly boring, although you should check out the oh-so-lovely cover Chris Martin made of Bowie’s ‘Heroes’.
This one is incredibly fun to watch. The episode starts with a cute gag where Sia can’t see Cordon, and continues with a series of smart jokes and tricks with eggs. It’s highly entertaining and surprisingly engaging!
Worst: Gwen Stefani with George Clooney and Julia Roberts
These are definitely amazing and talented stars that just didn’t belong together in one episode. Julia Roberts and George Clooney looked like they didn’t want to be there at all!
Adele has always seemed like a fun person to ride with, and now we know for sure! She’s incredibly charming, lovely and has one of the most fascinating voices in the world. Her killer sense of humor combined with Corden’s jokes resulted in one of the best episodes of the show.
