The theme of gala this year was “Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons: Art of the In-Between”, and the stars’ interpretation of that led way to some pretty outrageous get-ups. The iconic fashion event with 2017’s AvantGarde theme had celebs playing with every take on formal-wear, and some pretty dazzling, on-point couples. What are your thoughts on the most fashionable love birds on the blue carpet?
1. Weeknd and Selena Gomez
This is pretty much Welena’s premiere as a couple, and we’re loving their couple style vibes. They looked radiant, with Selena in a romantic, boudoir inspired Coach dress with a phenomenally high slit, and the Weeknd looking as dapper as ever.
2. Future and Jourdan Dunn
Who would’ve thought that bad boy future would show up with chic supermodel Jourdan Dunn? We didn’t! The new couple looked ravishing, with Dunn styled in a custom H&M suit-dress extravaganza that we are obsessed with, and Future in a snappy suit with whatever that Prince bow/tie thing is to match.
3. Cassie and Diddy
Longtime couple Cassie and Diddy were also perfect 10s on the Met Gala carpet outfits, with Cassie looking majestic in what we can only call a Black Swan wedding dress. We loved the dramatic gown by Aura Tout Vu with an intense spiky tail and sexy bustier, and Diddy looked handsome as ever in a Rick Owens suit.
4. Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds
Blake looked like a gorgeous peacock at the event this year, wearing a meticulous feathered, draped gold Versace dress filled with 200-Carat diamonds and some serious plumage, for the blue carpet event. Reynolds was her charming companion in a shiny blue bow-tie. Loving the subtle co-ordination.
5. Chrissy Teigan and John Legend
The ultimate celeb couple that everyone in the world ships obviously looked amazing at the Met gala. Chrissy opted for her hair pulled back and looked super editorial with her voluminous, sheer black and white lace gown with dramatic wrist and necklines. John looked like bae as usual in a white matching suit. Still winning at #couplegoals out of everyone on this list.
6. Pharrell Williams and Helen Lasichanh
It’s easy to see that Pharrell let his wife shine on this one. And did she ever! Commanding the spotlight in this heavily structured avant-garde red get-up, the statuesque Mrs. Pharrell Williams. She looks really comfy, and also like the coolest fashion girl ever that you would only run into in the most exclusive events in Paris. And he looks just as effortlessly cool in ripped jeans and a leather jacket.
7. Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen
The metallic theme these two went with is timeless and really flattering, and also exudes #powercouple vibes. Giselle’s low-backed slinky dress that accentuated her curves made her look as like the ultimate Hollywood beauty, while husband Tom Brady pulled off that velvet grey jacket like no other could – (and filled it out just as nicely, may we add ;)
8. Bobby Cannavale and Rose Byrne
OMG. Rose’s hair and matching lipstick really take the cake. Teased ‘dos and all-red-everything have us obsessed, while her hunky husband Bobby Cannavale rocked all black everything, tie included. – The cut-outs and tulle out-lay were absolutely ravishing on Byrne, especially contrasted next to her husband’s bold monochromatic look.
9. Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys
Yes, Keri Russell looks extremely fierce here (meow, that cat-eye), and yes, Matthew Rhys is wearing a kilt. This bizarre, highly androgynous and gender-swapping look weirdly works for the two of them, and we’re sure that it turned heads all over the event.
10. Kendall Jenner And A$AP Rocky
Apparently these babes have been secretly dating for a while, but this was the first event where they let the PDA loose, and we loved it. Kendall’s barely there, booty-baring dress worked on her waifish silhouette, while her rapper BF keeping it casual chic in a denim look
