America’s sweetheart, Jennifer Aniston, is being spoiled rotten in the new Emirates airlines ad. In the video she’s seen wandering the plane in a bathrobe, looking for a shower. When she finds the members of the crew she asks them about the shower and the best they can offer is a bag of peanuts and a moist hot towel. “Emirates’ planes have showers and they have bars” – says Aniston, as the crew laughs at her. Next thing we know she wakes up on a luxury plane and is telling the bartender about the nightmare she had.
It might’ve looked a bit arrogant and snooty if they hired anyone else for this ad, but hiring Jennifer Aniston, who is now the ambassador of the brand, was the right move. Aniston brings an element of comedy to the video, managing to make it lighthearted and funny, rather than an evil stab at the poor service of American airlines.
However, many are worried that Emirates Airlines are trying expand their services in the US and cut into the profit of the American airlines. Is that really a threat we should worry about? I’m not so sure, it’s not like average Americans travel with luxurious airlines all the time.
