No matter what kind of movies you prefer on a regular basis, we all sometimes need a good cry and these movies will definitely do just that. They will make you feel things, they will make your heart clench, your throat constrict and the tears will flow like a river. And what’s most important they’re not just tearjerkers, they’re all good movies, with a great plot and incredible stories at the core. So if you need a good cry, watch one of these 10 movies and buckle in because it’s going to be a crazy rollercoaster of emotions.
1. Toy Story 3
Yes, we know Toy Story 4 is out, but we’re sticking with Toy Story 3 as the movie that will make you cry the most out of Toy Story franchise. There’s just sometimes incredibly heart wrenching about the toys being given away and growing up that we all can relate too and basically if you don’t cry during this movie you don’t have a soul.
2. The Lion King
It’s a crowd favorite, we all watched it as kids and absolutely loved it but you know that scene with Mufasa that just made you feel like you were being stabbed with a knife straight into your heart. Why is this catered to kids? I’ve seen grown adults weep at Lion King.
3. Lion
This movie is called Lion, but it has nothing to do with actual lions. It’s a story of a boy who gets lost and separated from his parents and later on adopted into a loving family. But when he grows up he can’t help but feel like he needs to find his real family. And oh my god Dev Patel does such a good job in this movie you won’t be able to watch it an not cry.
4. Coco
Don’t know about you but when I went to see this movie I was expecting a fun little cartoon centered around Dia De Los Muertos. But man oh man Pixar and Disney just went the extra mile and made this a touching story about remembering your loved ones that are no longer with us and making you cry with both joy and sadness.
5. My Girl
Chances are you first saw this movie cause you saw that it had that kid who played Kevin in Home Alone in it. But this movie is not just another fun movies about kids going on adventures. The ending will have you shaking with tears. It’s an oldie but a goodie, you should definitely see it if you haven’t yet.
6. Hachi: A Dog’s Tale
This is a heartbreaking story of a loyal dog who always waited for his owner at the train station until one day the owner didn’t return. You’ll be sobbing uncontrollably by the end of this movie when you see how loyal this dog was and it’ll make you question if you should ever get a dog because what if this happens. Stock up on tissues because you’ll need them all and then some more.
7. Up
This movie will have you in tears from the very beginning. Sure there are funny things along the way, but even the opening montage will make you shed a tear. Just that montage is a better love story than most rom coms these days. And by the end of the movie, you’ll be crying silent tears.
8. The Theory Of Everything
A movie that focuses not only on how incredibly smart Stephen Hawking is but also his relationship with his wife and what was it like to be diagnosed and have to live with a disease that slowly paralyzes you. It’s a touching an intimate depiction of how he went about his life, his work and his family that will leave you in tears for sure.
9. PS: I love you
Gerard Butler’s character will make you weep with how loving and wonderful boyfriend can be, even after his death. The letters he wrote to his wife, the adventures he set up for her, he basically mapped out a road to happiness for her. It’s a tear-jerker for sure.
10. The Green Mile
It’s not a tale of tragic love or sickness. It’s a completely different story of a death row inmate with healing powers. It’s a fantasy crime drama based on a Stephen King novel with a very unexpected and hear-breaking ending that is guaranteed to make even the strongest of people cry.
