Hollywood divorces aren’t exactly rare, but there’s just something heartbreaking about seeing the star of Rocky go through one. Jennifer Flavin, who’s been married to Sylvester for 25 years (but they first met 10 years earlier), has filed for a divorce and it looks like it’s not going very smoothly.
Sylvester Stallone (76) and Jennifer Flavin (54) have quite an age difference and their temperaments are different too. But you’d think that after 25 years of marriage those differences wouldn’t be an issue. However, it turns out that what was an exciting challenge before becomes an irritating routine.
There have been rumors that the reason for the divorce is the fact that Sylvester acquired a Rottweiler without taking into consideration his wife’s opinion, or perhaps without even telling her about it. But the Rocky star responded to that rumor by saying that no, their long marriage did not end over a dog.
However, it seems like their differences in temperament did play a part in this divorce. Sylvester is pretty impulsive and he does things on a whim a lot, and that can be quite irritating to Jennifer. So perhaps after 25 years of him doing things on a whim, Jennifer has had enough.
All of this culminated in Jennifer filing for divorce, even though just 3 months prior both Jennifer and Sylvester were looking very happy and posting on Instagram about their 25th wedding anniversary. But as per usual, social media isn’t real life, it’s merely a performance and there’s a lot we don’t know about that goes on behind the scenes.
Jennifer’s demands in the divorce are that their assets should be equitably distributed. She already got Sylvester to agree that she should have exclusive use of their Palm Beach estate, but now she’s accusing him of “engaging in the intentional dissipation, depletion and/or waste of marital assets” and demands that he be prohibited from selling any assets while their divorce is in process.
Stallone, in turn, is fighting back and saying that he did not engage in any of these activities at all. While their divorce papers might say that their marriage is irretrievably broken we hope that they manage to end this amicably, after all they were a family for 25 years and have 3 daughters together.
