The VMAs are known for bringing wild, wonderful, and barely there looks out of the woodwork, and 2019 was no exception to that. Here are our favorite looks that slayed the paparazzi shots, this time around.
The Hadid Sisters
We’re used to seeing Bella as a brunette, but this time around, the Hadids were twinning in blond ‘dos and coordinating neutral looks. Gigi opted for more androgynous trousers, a pointy shoe and a bustier, while Bella showed more skin with a rushed look held together by suspenders.
Lizzo
Some say that curvier stars try to hide their body or smooth away flaws for red carpet events, but Lizzo is a glowing example of a plus size star exuding confidence. Yes, this #WCW wore a red boa and a sequin red dress with the word “siren” printed all over it, and clutched her curves while doing so!
Camila Cabello
People might remember Camila’s steamy performance with Shawn Mendez more than they did her red carpet look, but the Grecian, bridal inspired look with va-va-voom cutouts was hard to ignore, especially with that dramatic train.
Bishop Briggs
Bishop came out to the VMAs looking expensive AF in a Zendaya-esque menswear look which went beautiful with her bare look. Velvet green and baggy silhouettes combine with a daring, plunging neckline and a choker, making all of our ‘90s fantasies come true.
Alex Morgan
Normally, we’d say that hot pink, oversized bows, and sequins should stay in the 80s, but Alex Morgan somehow found a way to keep it extremely chic and contemporary.
KeKe Palmer
Keke Palmer came to the VMAs looking like a tall glass of lemonade, and we couldn’t get enough of it. This maxi look gave the appearance of Keke dripping in gold, so much so that she only needed a pair of understated earrings to complete the look.
Kiana Lede
Kiana might be a new name to the red carpet, but her innovative and shaggy shoulder train is a sneak peek at a hot new trend this year – one that transforms you into a decadent princess or a Kardashian. They’re one and the same, nowadays, right?
Lil Nas X
Normally, we keep this list to ladies only, but this glam matador look is one that we had to give Lil Nas props for. Fitted to a T with stunning sequin details and metallic cowboy boots – how else would you celebrate a public coming out in 2019?
Zara Larsson
Kiana wasn’t the only femme princess on the red carpet – Zara Larsson walked straight out of a fairy tale in this shoulder less baby pink ballgown with ruffled hemline and neckline detail.
H.E.R
There were plenty of fresh faces at this year’s VMA’s, but H.E.R stole the spotlight with sunnies, a live snake and a flawless green floral suit, bringing fiery jungle energy like no one else could.
