2019 seems like the year that everyone digs in deep into their skincare routine and really pays attention to beauty products and what they do and how they work. Let’s take a look at 8 key trends that will change your beauty game in 2019.
1. Face Masks
Let’s face it, face masks are never leaving. They really took off last year, and they’re staying with us for 2019 and getting more and more exciting. It doesn’t matter if you prefer homemade ones, cream based or clay masks, peel off masks or the classic sheet mask – you’ll find one for you on the market. Now they come with fun designs, glitter and lately ampule masks are becoming a hit.
2. Easy Skincare
The days of complicated 15 step Korean inspired beauty routines that take hours are almost over. We all tried it, it worked, it was fun for a while, but it’s getting old now. Is it really necessary to use that many products? Does it make a noticeable difference? 2019 is the year of simple and easy skincare. Just face wash, toner and moisturizer. With additional sunscreen and maybe a serum once in a while. That’s all you really need. Quality over quantity.
3. Ingredients
We’re becoming more aware of ingredients and their effect on us every year and 2019 is going to be the year we really pay attention. Whether you’re getting a moisturizer with vitamin C, or a serum infused with rosehip oil – a people will know what works for them and pick their beauty products based on the ingredients that work for them.
4. Liquid Exfoliation
Say goodbye to abrasive face scrubs and exfoliating shower gels with microbeads. They’re not good for your skin and they’re bad for the environment. Instead, we’re all going to hop onto the bandwagon of liquid exfoliation that uses natural acids to gently dissolve and strip away dead skin cells. No more vigorous rubbing and scrubbing, from now on it all about gentle exfoliation only.
5. Beauty Gadgets
It’s hard to tell if we’re getting lazier or if beauty gadgets really do work better than just our hands, but you can’t deny the power of beauty gadgets. Facial cleansing brushes have become a staple in many people’s homes, now there’s also facial massagers and various other power tools that you can use in your beauty routine.
6. Non Invasive Treatments
We definitely went through a phase of botox, liposuction, cosmetic surgeries, lip fillers and all sort of things that seemed very invasive. Thankfully, 2019 is going to be all about non-invasive treatments that aren’t scary at all. The beauty industry seems to be heading in the direction of minimal discomfort and maximum results. Cryotherapy and coolsculpting are at all time high and it looks like IV infusions are becoming really popular too.
7. Tried and True Methods
While we don’t want to take anything away from the incredible new inventions, there also seems to be a return of tried and true beauty tricks coming back and that’s great. Who says you can’t use a cool new beauty gadget to wash your face and then harvest the wisdom of ancient times and sit back with a jade roller to really massage your face? There’s a reason we’re seeing jade rollers and Gua sha tools popping up in beauty stores, it’s cause they work.
8. Mini Versions
We really do live in a time where there’s so much choice it’s hard to commit to one product for a long time. We want to try everything in the search of the perfect product. And beauty companies are noticing this trend and catering to it. In 2019 mini versions of products are really in demand, because no one is willing to commit to full size before trying it out first. So there are lots of mini lipsticks, mini mascaras and mini bottles of creams and serums and all sorts of things available.
