We all have different hair texture, our skin type and sensitivity levels differ greatly, so it can take years of trial and error to find products that work well specifically for you. But there are certain beauty secrets that can actually work for most women and if you’re not incorporating them into your beauty routine you’re missing out. These could be the ones that really make a big a big difference. So to make your life easier today we thought we’d share with you 10 beauty secrets every girl should know.
1. Always wear sunscreen
If you want your skin to look good for the foreseeable future you gotta wear sunscreen all the time. It doesn’t matter if it’s a hot sunny day or a gloomy rainy one, just cause you can’t see the harmful rays doesn’t mean they can’t touch you. Just be safe and put on sunscreen, your skin will thank you in the long run.
2. Be consistent
As much as it we’d love to just do a facial once a year or use a face mask once a week – these won’t matter much if you’re not consistent with your skin care. Make sure to cleanse and moisturize your skin on the daily basis. Remember, preventing skin problems is better than trying to cure them.
3. Don’t skip on the toner
Toner actually is an essential step between cleansing and moisturizing. It will set your skin pH level back to normal and allow all the other product you put on top to penetrate your skin better.
4. Get enough sleep
Face creams and other products are all fine and dandy but the most important weapon in your beauty arsenal is beauty sleep. Always try to get about 8 hours of sleep. Not only will you feel better, but your skin will look better. Did you know that when you don’t get enough sleep not only do you get dark circles under your eyes, but your skin get dehydrated and looks tired?
5. Never sleep in makeup
On certain days when you’re super tired, or you’ve been out and had some drinks, it can be very tempting to just go to bed and not take off your makeup, but you gotta do it. Otherwise you’re just asking for breakouts. If you’re super lazy then at least keep makeup wipes close by to take it off while you’re in bed. But you know it’s better to just go wash your face thoroughly.
6. No makeup at the gym
We all feel a bit self-conscious at the gym, but there’s really no reason to wear makeup. No one cares and no one is looking at you, people are way too busy worrying about themselves and how they look. Also makeup and sweat don’t mix well, you’ll end up looking like a mess and you might get massive breakouts too.
7. Hot water is not your friend
This is a hard pill to swallow, but hot baths and hot showers aren’t great for your skin. Yes it feels super nice and relaxing in the moment, but hot water can actually damage and dry out your skin. So if you want to have nice, supple, youthful looking skin – don’t take scorching hot baths, go for warm water instead. When you do take a bath, add some oats to it. You won’t believe how much softer your skin will feel afterwards.
8. Skincare isn’t just about your face
Most people know by now that skincare is way more important than any makeup. If your skin looks good your makeup can look even better. But skincare isn’t just about your face. When you’re putting on face creams, or lotions you’re really better off putting it all over your body. All of your skin needs care and attention. At the very least make sure to put on serums all the way down your neck and decolletage too. These areas can start looking old and bad way before your face does if you don’t pay attention to it.
9.Protect your hair from heat
Yes it’s the most boring product ever, it offers no actual results right away. It seems kind of useless, but trust me it’s working. At the end of the day it’s not supposed to give you great volume or make sure your hairstyle stays put, it’s just supposed to protect your hair from heat. So just spend the extra 2 seconds and spray it one before blow drying your hair. You’ll be happy you did when years down the line, after constant hair drying and straightening and curling your hair still looks all nice and shiny.
10. Eat a balanced diet
Your hair and your skin really is the reflection of what you eat. So if you want it to look nice you’ve got to eat well. Make sure you eat lots of fruits and veggies to get all the vitamins. Don’t skip on healthy fats – they keep your skin looking youthful. And try to stay away from junk foods – they only lead to breakouts, acne and feeling awful.
