Although we see all kinds of relationship configurations these days, many people still raise an eyebrow when one partner is significantly older than another. Then again, there will always be outsiders looking in and commenting on a visual difference. Still, based on this info from PsychCentral, it’s true that the bigger the age gap between partners, the more likely these partners are to experience struggles related to phase-of-life and general life experiences. Still, there are plenty of inspiring Hollywood couples that help break that stigma and are happily together. From George and Amal to Alec and Hilaria, here are the most successful celeb couples with a huge age difference.

1. George and Amal Clooney

Hollywood’s most infamous bachelor shocked everybody when he announced that he was getting married to human rights attorney Amal Alamuddin who was 17 years his junior. After meeting in Lake Como, Italy in July 2013, he was charmed by her beauty, sense of humor and intelligence. In their joint interview for vogue, he was swept up in the excitement of her life and the “superhuman work that she was doing.” They got married in 2014 and had their twin daughters three years later. Amal is just as happy, calling George “incredibly inspirational and supportive.”

2. Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi

One of Hollywood’s most famous LGBTQ+ couples, Ellen and Portia have known they were soulmates since 2004. Ellen also called Portia her best friend. She’s 15 years older than her wife, and while they first met in 2000, they didn’t start dating until four years later when de Rossi was more open about her sexuality. In 2008, they got married, and Ellen discussed how Portia has helped her remember to never take anything for granted. The two regularly let each other know how much they love and appreciate each other.

3. Harrison Ford and Calista Flockhart

Even though he’s older now, Harrison Ford was and always will be a major babe. Calista Flockhart recognized that when she met him at the 2002 Golden Globes. At the time, Flockhart was 38, and Ford was 60. Marrying in 2010, they’ve successfully blended their families, and the actress has gushed about her hubby’s great parenting skills. In a 2003 interview with People, Ford said that there’s the potential for romantic love at any stage of life but was surprised that he was able to establish a long-lasting relationship. Privacy is the key for this quiet couple.

4. Felicity Huffman and William H. Macy

The secret to this long-lasting and successful marriage with a major age gap is their similar backgrounds and interests. They both grew up in the theater and had the same hobbies, leading to smooth sailing in the relationship. That is, until Huffman’s 2019 arrest related to the college admissions scandal. Still, they weather the storm and Macy wrote a letter to the judge saying that they’ve found a “wonderful family therapist” and that “every good thing in my life is because of Felicity Huffman.”

5. Camila Alves and Matthew McConaughey

Unsure that he’d ever meet “the one,” that all changed in 2006 when he met Alves at a club. She was a model at the time, and despite having a 13-year age difference, he knew she was a diamond in the rough. Though their relationship has been a rollercoaster since they met in 1998 at a French film festival, Douglas and Zeta-Jones are one of Hollywood’s happiest couples. They wed in 2000 after having their first child together, and in 2003 had a daughter. Zeta-Jones is also a step-mom to Douglas’ son from his previous marriage. Problems arose from Douglas’ throat cancer and his wife’s bipolar disorder diagnoses. After getting separated in 2013, they ultimately reconciled and are stronger than ever.

7. Warren Beatty and Annette Bening

Married since 1992, the couple has a 21-year age difference. A foundation of “fundamental love and mutual respect and understanding” are key for the actress. She claimed that even though she and her husbands were years apart, they have very similar backgrounds, making for some great common ground.

On her podcast, “Witches Anonymous,” she admitted she was suspicious and judgemental of couples with big age gaps, but now realized that love might just look different from your idea of it or what you thought love would be. The beauty never planned on having a family but got pregnant five months after the wedding, and soon after had two more kids!

9. Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness

He said that just weeks into meeting Deb, he knew they would be together forever. He feels “fully seen” by her, and vice versa with Deb.
