Soap opera star Susan Lucci, who also happens to be the star of “All My Children,” is 76 years old, but she sure doesn’t look like it! When you think about all the health problems she’s had and gotten through, it’s even more impressive how young she looks. But how does this beauty in her 70s still look decades younger? Read on and find out how she’s attained that eternal youth.
Daytime’s Leading Lady
She is known by this moniker due to her impressive soap opera CV. Her most famous role is playing Erica Cane on “All My Children.” Throughout its four-decade run (1970-2011), she never missed a single season. Her dedication ultimately earned her a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series.
She also appeared on Season 7 of “Dancing With the Stars” in 2008. At the time, she was 62 years old and made it up to week 7, proving just what an unstoppable force she was. Unfortunately, she would have to stop her non-stop hard work and opt for a more laid-back routine.
A brush with fate and immediate heart surgery
In 2018, when she was having chest pains and trouble breathing, Lucci was very close to dying from a heart attack. She didn’t take it seriously at first and prioritized her work instead, thinking that her healthy lifestyle would be enough to keep her going. But tests showed that the main artery to her heart was 90% blocked and that she needed heart surgery right away. Fortunately, everything went well, and she was able to go on with her life.
She prioritizes her health more than ever
While her appearance is still flawless, and she continues to act, her priority is now her health. At the 2023 Writers Guild Awards, she made a red carpet appearance and left all of our jaws on the floor. Shining like a diamond, it’s clear that Susan Lucci has a new lease on life. After being asked about her surgery, she commented, “I’m doing really well. I always keep an eye on myself and what’s going on.”
Wondering what the secret to her svelte and toned physique is? The actress admits that she works out six days a week and craves that movement, but still takes a rest day since it’s important for your body. Her routine always starts in the morning. She likes to work out first thing because in her words, “no matter what happens for the rest of the day, I’ve done something good for myself.”
A role model to us all
For those who are afraid of getting older, Lucci is a great reminder that we don’t automatically turn sick, decrepit and gray when we get to a certain age. If you channel your inner youth, remain active and keep taking care of yourself, you too, can glow like this goddess!
