Iconic Disney Princess Dresses

When talking about Disney Princesses you can’t help but mention their dresses. It’s such a big part of their aesthetic and their whole image. And what’s interesting is that over the years they have definitely influenced our style and fashion taste. Without even realising it, many find themselves looking for a wedding dress that will make them look just like Cinderella or picking a swimsuit that is surprisingly similar to Ariel’s. It’s all about the dress when it comes to Disney Princesses. So let’s take a look at some of the most iconic Disney Princess dresses.

Merida

First of all, we’ve got to mention Merida. Yes, she’s a newer edition to Disney classics, and she’s definitely a unique one. We love her spirit and her wild red curly hair, and her accent, but you know what else we love? Her dress, it’s not super glamorous, it’s actually rather simple, but it’s perfect for adventuring in, and the color compliments her so well. It’s giving us renaissance fair vibes and we love it.

Cinderella

Cinderella’s sprinkling blue gown is everything. It’s basically the epitome of princess gowns. So glamorous, so shiny, so poofy. It’s a classic when it comes to Disney dresses. Absolutely everyone remembers it and some even wear their own light-up version of it to the Met Gala. We’re talking about you, Zendaya.

Snow White

Snow White’s dress is quite unusual. It’s giving us a renaissance fair mixed with the Queen in a deck of playing cards kind of vibes. Like you can’t deny the fact that the collar is extreme and the color combinations are not what any of us would just think of. And yet it works, and it’s legendary and instantly recognizable. We’re pretty sure that it’s the instant recognition that makes it work.

Elsa

Elsa’s sparkling dress is such a cool (get it?) take on the classic princess dress. Gone is the poofy skirt and sleeved we used to associate with Disney, instead her dress is form-fitting and has open shoulders. It’s still floor-length, and obviously she needs the cape for dramatic effect. But all in all, we’d say it’s a very modern look and we love an innovative princess.

Pocahontas

We love the Pocahontas dress. One-shoulder dresses are great and incidentally very much in right now (thank god for cyclical fashion). The form-fitting silhouette is awesome and clearly works for Pocahontas and the neutral color scheme makes it very minimalist, but the fringe keeps it fun. All in all an amazing dress would recommend, love the statement accessories too.

Belle

When you think of Belle from Beauty and the Beast you probably think of the yellow dress she wears, right? But we’re actually here to celebrate the white and blue ensemble she wears at the beginning. It’s definitely more casual, and we’re pretty sure Alice in Wonderland wore the same thing, but you’ve got to admit it’s a good look. It’s so chic, we would actually wear it this summer.

Rapunzel

Say what you want about Tangled but her whole look is very boho and we stan a boho princess. The corset is so freaking cute, the purple dress is so dreamy and we obviously love the flowers in her hair. It’s just such a cool one color look!

Mulan

Mulan’s layered look is awesome. It shows that dresses don’t always have t have frills to look cool and also that you can wear a traditional dress and look badass. Plus do you know many princess gowns that you can actually kick butts in? And that, right there is why this dress is iconic.
