In Hollywood, there are celebs that are favored for various reasons. It seems that some have a golden ticket to all of the best films and television shows. But there are some celebs who have become less fortunate. One thing that can totally end a career of a celebrity is getting blacklisted. No celeb wants to end up on the bad side of the decision-makers in Hollywood. But some of the most successful celebs have ended up getting barred from working in some of the best movies, to which they had grown accustomed. The reasons for getting blacklisted vary, and can range from altercations with other celebrities, committing terrible crimes, or just getting on the bad side of some important people. Some of these celebs on this list may surprise you, but you may realize that you have not seen them featured in much for a while. Check out these celebs who were blacklisted from Hollywood.
Kevin Spacey
One of the more recent celebs who was blacklisted is Kevin Spacey. He came under fire after actor Anthony Rapp came forward in 2017 with claims that Spacey had sexually assaulted him, all while Rapp was underage. Shortly after, other actors came forward with similar claims.
Bill Cosby
Another actor who was blacklisted for similar allegations is Bill Cosby. Cosby was accused of sexual assault by several women, beginning in 2014. He was imprisoned in 2018 and served time until 2021.
Roman Polanski
Polish filmmaker Roman Polanski became very well known for his talents in Hollywood. That came crashing down in 1977 when he was convicted of drugging and sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl. He fled the US – and still makes films in Europe – but will be jailed if he ever returns to the states.
Roseanne Barr
Roseanne was all the rage decades ago with her hit sitcom by the same name. She was set to revive the show back in 2018 but was blasted for tweeting a racial slur about one of President Obama’s advisers, Valerie Jarrett.
James Woods
James Woods was a popular actor at one time, playing roles like the tough cop. But he was blacklisted and even banned from Twitter for tweeting his conservative beliefs, including some harsh words against Hillary Clinton.
Harvey Weinstein
There are not many people who have not heard about the downward spiral of Harvey Weinstein and his heinous acts. He was one of the first to come under fire during the #MeToo movement and was sentenced to 23 years in jail for this long list of sexual assault charges.
Mo’Nique
Mo’Nique is a unique case in that she was essentially blacklisted for advocating for herself to receive more pay for her acting gigs. This came after her Oscar win in 2010 for best supporting actress in the film, “Precious.”
Mel Gibson
Mel Gibson was a Hollywood “it” man for quite some time until things took a turn in 2006. He was arrested by the Malibu police for driving under the influence and proceeded to go on an anti-Semitic rant.
Gina Carano
Carano is a former MMA fighter who was cast as a warrior in the Star Wars series “The Mandalorian.” Her seemingly rising film career took a major hit after she made anti-Semitic comments on social media.
Elizabeth Berkley
Elizabeth Berkley was known for her role on the popular 90’s show “Saved By the Bell.” She then starred in the film flop, “Showgirls” in 1995, and her career has never quite recovered. She has said that the film and its failure made it very hard for her to secure any major roles in later years.
