Now that we finally get to throw out are tired ol’ winter shoes, we need to make way for this summer’s footwear. Some of these looks will let our newly painted toes shine, while others are more of a statement look in themselves. Here are our favorite shoe trends for the coming months.

Bows
We are going to be seeing bows and tie-knots on sandals and slippers all over. In the form of gingham, silk, and striped fabrics. It’s timeless but has an old-school feeling of nostalgia to it. Plus, so much more comfortable than those blister-bringing thong shoes.

Embroidery
Sam Edelman has brought us comfortable slip-ons in this style, as we want more! This cozy cabin aesthetic is often synonymous with fall, but we’re here to usher it into the summer season. This trend will definitely give way to tons of embroidered sneakers and mules which is going to be the go-to festival shoe of 2019.

Teva Inspired Sandals
This trend makes the crunchy/granola look cool again, infusing a sense of practicality, adventure, and effortless style into your look. Think Jane Fonda in the prime of her activism! They’re a must-have staple in white, nude, and black.

See Through Shoes
Inspired by the jelly shoes of the 1990, this plastic trend might not be as comfortable as the last one, especially in sweltering heat. We will be seeing the mostly in the form of straps, heels, and bases. Our tip is to wear it with a thin sock underneath so you don’t experience chafing during the hottest days of the year.

Luxe Slides
Slides are the easies shoes to put on and off – and they’re getting a sophisticated, luxurious update this season. Heritage designers and big box stores alike are going to be taking on the slide silhouette with no shortage of embellishments, color, and fabric innovations.

Animal Print
Animal print comes back every season in some new iteration – this time, it’s animal print! Say hello to leather sandals in leopard print, or maybe even a zebra platform for the daring and inspiring fashionista. What will you bring out your wild side with?

Architectural Shapes
Block heels and skinny stilettos are so last year – this year, it’s all about creative and unique heels in magnificent architectural shapes that look more like sculptures than your run-of-the-mill high heel. Turning high heels into art one day at a time.

Neon Dad Sneakers
Make dad sneakers hip again with infusion of loud colors, like Stella McCartney did with her white and yellow pair. Seinfeld is back in style, and it’s never been this comfortable. These colorful and utility inspired kicks pair well with boyfriend jeans or bike shorts and an oversized tee.

Square Toed Look
For a while, sleek has been all about exaggeratedly pointed and sharp toes. This year, say hello to the squared silhouette which add a smart sense of modernity and geometry to an outfit. Perfect in nude pumps or mules to showcase the shape.

Combat Boots
Last year, we saw tons of sock boots on the runway. This year, the combat boot is back, and why wouldn’t it be? It’s the ultimate bad-girl shoe to pump up your confidence, and it’s extremely versatile. Try white Dr. Martens with an ethereal silk slip dress. This look is dynamic and adds contrast while keeping you cool, because boots in the summer can get quite hot!
