10 Signs You’re a Hopeless Romantic

We live in a world that makes it seem like true romance is dead. It’s all swiping on Tinder, sliding into DMs, hookups, one-night stands, friends with benefits, etc. People keep calling rom-coms cheesy and unrelatable, because it’s all for TV, stuff like that doesn’t really happen often in real life. Yet romance is not dead, hopeless romantics still exist and you might be one of them. Here’s a handy list of things hopeless romantics care about and if you find yourself nodding along when reading it – congratulations, you’re a hopeless romantic and it’s a good thing!

1. You Believe In Finding Your Other Half
It’s not that you don’t feel whole on your own, but the idea of finding that special someone, the other half, your soulmate, whatever you want to call it, is important to you. You know that your life will change in that moment and everything will become more enjoyable and make more sense with your life partner by your side.

2. You Love Romantic Comedies
While others make fun of rom-coms and sneer in their general direction, you silently hope that something similar happens to you at least once in your lifetime. You dream of a guy showing up at your house with a boombox, playing your song. You’ve watched every single movie with Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan and you have preferred rom-coms for every occasion be it Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter, Valentine’s Day or any other occasion.

3. You’re Daydream
Even if you don’t have a romantic partner at the time you can’t help but daydream about what it will be like when you have one. You think up scenarios in your head of what you’d say, how you’d act, what would be your perfect date and what’s going to be your special song.

4. You Believe In Love At First Sight
You know the importance of getting to know someone but you still believe in love at first sight. You just have this feeling that once you see your soulmate you’ll know right away that you’re meant to be together and they’ll know it too. And from that point on it’s just a matter of time before you get married and live happily ever after.

5. You Believe In Fate
Fate is a funny thing, but you believe in it. If something goes wrong or right you don’t spend too much time worrying about it. It’s just fate, it’s destiny, things were meant to be this way and it’s all part of the deal. You don’t know what life has in store for you, but you know you’re destined to find love and it’s gonna happen one way or another.

6. You Have High Standards For Your Potential Partner
Being a hopeless romantic comes with a lot of expectations. You won’t be happy with just a “hey” text message. You want the old fashioned courting, you want kisses under the rain, romantic walks under the moon, candlelit dinners, bouquets of flowers when they pick you up for a date and other romantic grand gestures.

7. You Love The Idea Of Being In Love
Another weird little thing that comes with being a hopeless romantic is loving the idea of being in love. You constantly have a crush on someone, doesn’t matter if they know about your existence or not. You love hearing stories about how your friends met their significant other, you love playing matchmaker, you just love “love” so much.

8. You Have A Wedding Pinterest Board
You’ve been keeping tabs on wedding dresses, wedding decor and figuring out what’s the best wedding location for you since you were a child. And once Pinterest came into existence you started a private wedding board. It’s got thousands of pictures for reference, you’ve figured out the smallest details of what your wedding would look like, now all you need is a groom.

9. You Try On Last Names
You’ve secretly tried what your name would sound like if you married one of your crushes or the celebrities you dream about. Whether you want to be Mrs Chalamet, Mrs Hemsworth or whatever the last name of your actual partner was – you know exactly what it would sound like rolling off your tongue and how your new and improved signature would look like.

10. You Have Many OTPs
People who are hopeless romantics like the idea of their favorite characters being happily in love, so chances are you have an OTP from every single show you’ve ever watched and book you’ve read. But we all have that one ship that we’ll go down with, be it Ron and Hermione, Rachel and Ross or Sherlock and John.
