12 Funniest Rom Com Couples

While most rom-coms have their cheesy moments, there’s also that natural humor in them that keeps things light and keeps us laughing. Most of the couples in these romantic comedies haven’t had a straight or simple journey towards finding each other, and you can be sure they’re delivering some sidesplitting zingers along the way.  Here are the funniest rom-com couples of all time.

1. Along Came Polly, Ben Stiller and Jennifer Aniston

An uptight newlywed, played by Ben Stiller, is cheated on during his honeymoon, closing him off even more. But when he reunites with Polly, a free-spirited, spontaneous girl who used to be an old classmate. She teaches him how to shed his too-organized vibe and live life in the moment, but it’s….quite a journey getting there.

2. Shallow Hal, Jack Black and Gwyneth Paltrow

Is there anyone sweeter than Jack Black and Gwyneth Paltrow in Shallow Hal? To be fair, compared to most early 2000s movies, this is one of the most body positive and least offensive, though it definitely has its moment. In it, a once vain man falls in love with a 300 pound woman due to her personality, changing his shallow morals in the process.

3. Bridget Jones Diary, Renée Zellweger and Colin Firth

Bridget, played by Renée  Zellweger, is absolutely hilarious in this rom-com (those diary entries are sidesplitting), and the more serious, buttoned-down Colin Firth plays off that lighthearted awkwardness, making for some chemistry that’s straight-up delightful.

4. Trainwreck, Amy Schumer and Bill Hader

Here, a  career woman with a chronic fear of commitment has her mind set on the idea that monogamy isn’t realistic, or in the cards for her. When she meets a good guide, it should be a fairytale — but their different values make for some chuckle-inducing misunderstandings and differences.

5. My Big Fat Greek Wedding, Nia Vardalos and John Corbett

A Greek woman falls in love with a non-greek guy. No big deal, right? Wrong. Her extremely amusing family ends up butting in attempting to accept him, all while she comes to terms on her own journey of truly understanding and appreciating her cultural identity. All we can say is, that dude sure it patient.

6. Hitch, Will Smith and Eva Mendes

In Hitch, Will Smith plays a relationship coach attempting to win over his dream lady. But this so-called date doctor soon learns that his years of proven game don’t exactly work on the gossip writer who he’s so into! He runs into some situations that will give you secondhand embarrassment, to say the least. Seafood allergy, anyone?

7. The Breakup, Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn

While The Breakup chronicles the nastier and more difficult parts of a breakup at time, it also follows the hilariously petty acts between two people that have known each other for a very long time, and are getting on each other’s nerves. As a couple fights to keep their fancy condo, attempting to run the other out, hijinks ensue.

8. How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey

Wasn’t it kind of hilarious how badly these two got on each others nerves before inevitably falling in love with each other? We feel like some serious pranks would go down in that relationship with this competitive and dramatic dynamic.

9. Two Weeks Notice, Sandra Bullock and Hugh Grant

In this Sandra Bullock and Hugh Grant flick, a lawyer realizes that her boss treats her too much like a nanny, so she decides to walk out. Obviously, he soon realizes he was taking her for granted. Doesn’t every woman have this moment in their lives with either a boss or romantic relationship?

10. You’ve got mail, Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan

Ah, the classic story of enemies falling in love. Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks play business rivals who meet online when AOL chat was still a thing, anonymously chatting with each other as they fall in love, having no idea who was really behind the screen. Ah, the original Catfish.

11. When Harry met Sally, Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan

This rom-com (featuring the queen of the genre) poses the true question: can a guy and girl ever truly be platonic friends? And if they sleep together, will it ruin it? This film explores that idea throughout the years with these two best friends, and it’s impossible not to crack up at that saucy scene in Katz’s deli.

12. 10 things I hate about you, Heath Ledger and Julia Stiles

In this classic-rom com, a popular sociable teen can’t date until her older sister does. Only problem is, big sis is the opposite of her younger sibling, and not about that dating life at all. Until Heath Ledger slowly wins her over. I mean, if anyone could do accomplish that impossible task, it’s charming Heath.
